Laser therapy is a treatment that uses light energy to aid in tissue healing and pain reduction. Light therapy stimulates cellular activity that can result in encouraging tendons, ligaments, and muscles to repair themselves. This can reduce pain and speed up recovery.
Our MLS laser uses two wavelengths at one time. The Continuous Laser helps to decrease inflammation, stimulate blood flow, and improve re-absorption of fluid.
The Pulsed Laser emissions can have an almost immediate effect on pain by interfering with pain transmissions to the brain.
Treatments only take a few minutes and after an initial exam by one of our doctors, can be scheduled as a technician appointment. Laser treatments do not create any pain, redness, or swelling in the treated area. Positive results can typically be seen in most patients after one to three treatments. After an examination by one of our doctors, a treatment plan will be devised. Depending on the location, duration, and pain level of the affected area; treatment plans can range from a few weeks to months. Usually, laser therapy treatments start at one to four treatments a week and decrease in frequency and time until they are no longer needed. Laser therapy can be used to treat sudden, acute issues or long-time chronic problems. This therapy is commonly used for arthritis, wounds, lameness, inflamed ears, lick granulomas, muscle sprains, tears, post-surgical pain, and swelling.
